Overview: The battery replacement process for the iPhone 2G is one of the most difficult.  Lifting up the aluminium shell back cover takes time and the right technique.  The video does a good job of explaining the removal process.  Expect some damage to the back cover during disassembly.  Reform the aluminium back cover prior to re-installing.
